Quality fruit mandi to be set up in Gulmarg soon: Farooq Shah
Gulmarg: The newly elected government of Jammu and Kashmir has been giving full attention to the enhancement of the horticulture sector, surging the farmers’ income. The government is ready to provide a sufficient market to the fruit growers so that they can get a satisfactory amount of their yields. In this regard, MLA Farooq Shah said that the fruit growers in the Gulmarg constituency will soon have a dedicated fruit mandi.
As per the press release, the new market will give a chance to local horticulture farmers to sell their produce easily and get sufficient prices; they don’t need to wait for the sale of their crops, providing a major economic boost to the horticulture sector in the region.

Shah met with the Minister for Horticulture and Agriculture and discussed the problems that local growers are currently facing. The MLA talked about the setting up of the Horticulture Production and Marketing Department. A proposal has been submitted, and the project is likely to commence soon.
“Horticulture has great potential in our constituency and can boost our local economy,” Shah said. “The fruit mandi will provide fruit growers with better access to markets, ensure fair prices, and reduce challenges like transportation. This will not only help our farmers but also strengthen the entire community,” he added.
The fruit mandi will provide several facilities like storing fruits, marketing, and selling. The will lead to entice traders from the entire region to bring their products to mandi and fetch a good income, creating job opportunities for locals and strengthening economic growth in the district. Shah is committed to improving the horticulture sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
