Rajasthan farmer fetches huge income by polyhouse farming
Bikaner: Vinod Bishnoi, a farmer from Lunkaransar Tehsil in Bikaner, Rajasthan, has made his name through cucumber cultivation, achieving an annual turnover of Rs 80 lakhs. His innovative techniques have helped him to improve his production and profit as well. Bishnoi received cucumber farming technique in a polyhouse from his uncle. He followed the same path and established a polyhouse on one acre of his land.
The progressive farmer invested Rs 40–42 lakh for the setting up of polyhouses in the large chunk of land. He personally invested Rs 14.25 lakh, and the rest of the amount he got from the government as a 70 percent subsidy. This venture proved super profitable for him, spending 2 lakh on the cultivation of cucumber on his land but profiting over Rs 10 lakh. This amazing result surprises everyone.

The creeping plant is being grown 2-3 times a year in a polyhouse. In the beginning, he had to face several challenges. He had to counter several diseases and dangerous viruses. He used organic and chemical fertilizers to counter such issues to prevent his crops from being damaged.
Vinod monitored his field on a regular basis, helping him to protect his cucumber crop, which resulted in bumper production. He sells his product in multiple markets, pricing it at Rs 45 per kg, much higher than conventionally grown cucumbers, proving that farmers can earn a huge amount of money by the adoption of modern techniques and market access.
