Renovated bonsai garden to bloom with fresh features in 2026
Bengaluru: The noted bonsai garden inside Lalbagh Botanical Park currently is being renovated. Horticulture Department officials have assured that the ongoing revamp process will be completed by March 2026. The renovation work in the garden has been continuing for the last two years. It will become packed with several new features after overhauling, such as a bonsai eco shop, better landscaping, and a central fountain that has to be set up encircled by bonsai trees. A special bonsai gallery will be another feature that will attract the visitors.
The garden was opened to the public in January after the completion of the first phase of renovation. The project will cost around Rs 50 to 60 lakh. One of the bonsai experts, Anupama Vedachala, has been contributing a lot to the redevelopment of the garden for the last three years.

At present, the garden has more than 200 new bonsai trees. Visitors went to witness the garden during the flower shows held in Lalbagh. They are appreciating the changes. Rajath, a regular visitor from Basavanagudi, said, “The park looks more spacious and well-designed now. There were no pathways before.”
Jagadeesh, Joint Director of Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) at Lalbagh, said, “We want to expand the attractiveness of bonsai culture; several works are still left. The garden will be fully ready in the next year. It seems after the renovation work the bonsai garden at Lalbagh is expected to become more beautiful, and the atmosphere will be more vibrant and peaceful. Visitors can spend their valuable time with families and friends in a natural environment.
