Saharanpur farmer grows 50,000 lisianthus plants annually
Saharanpur: A retired bank employer turned farmer in Saharanpur named Bharat Veer Singh. He did not sit idle after his retirement. He started concentrating in the floriculture sector. Therefore, he began growing flower plants to keep himself engaged. He cultivates different types of flower plants, which are in high demand not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in some of the other states in India.
Gradually he became famous, and farmers from distant areas came to take his plants for cultivation. This year, he has grown plants of the Lisianthus flower. He imported seeds of Lisianthus from Japan. He explained that he grows around 50,000 plants every year. Growing plants is now his hobby.

He put every ounce of his energy into growing different kinds of plants. This year, he has cultivated around 50,000 Lisianthus plants. He went on to say that it is a time-taking process for a seed to become a plant. The sowing of Lisianthus takes place in September, and the plants will be ready by March.
Lisianthus flowers are usually used in the making of bouquets. Most importantly, anyone can do the farming of this . It is grown in Saharanpur, and then sent to different nurseries of Dehradun for sale. The demand for this flower is high in the market. It is available in multiple colours, the price of one plant is around Rs 30.
