Sheikh Yasmin inspects oil palm nursery plantation work
Gadwal: Sheikh Yasmin Basha, Managing Director of Oil Fed and Director of Horticulture, on Thursday visited the Oil Palm Nursery and Oil Palm Mill in Beechupalli, Erravalli Mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal District. During her visit she witnessed the ongoing works of the oil palm plantations with keen interest. She also took stock of numerous schemes implemented by the Horticulture Department in the entire region.
She wished for the establishment of a center at the Beechupalli factory to increase awareness among farmers regarding oil palm. Creating awareness will not only help to increase the oil palm cultivation and its production, but it will also make the farming community aware of profitable intercropping practices to encourage sustainable farming. She went on to say that farmers need to focus on the plantation of sandalwood trees around their fields, which will provide them economic benefits.

The managing director had an interaction session with the oil palm farmers to know how they cultivate palm oil and what challenges they have to face. In the end, she interacted with District Collector B. Y. Santosh at the collector’s office to discuss topics like oil palm farming and land and farm issues in the district.
Several top officials and dignitaries participated in the meeting, such as M. A. Akbar, District Horticulture Officer; Sudhakar Reddy, Oil Fed General Manager; horticulture officials M. Rajasekhar, Mahesh, and Imran; Oil Fed District In-charge V. Venkatesh; and so on. The visit of Yasmin highlighted the commitment of the Horticulture Department and Oil Fed to support farmers so that oil palm cultivation can be increased in the region.
