NDMC enhances coordination for G20 Summit with dedicated contact numbers

By Shri Ram Shaw

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is taking proactive measures to ensure the efficient delivery of civic services and seamless coordination with various agencies during the G20 Summit. To enhance accessibility and responsiveness, NDMC has introduced three dedicated telephone numbers for its NDMC Disaster Management Centre located at Humayun Road, New Delhi, which will serve as the G20 Control Room.

Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Council informed that LG-Delhi yesterday visited the NDMC Disaster Management Centre for the G20 Control Room to monitor each and everything. He also mentioned that NDMC Chairman, Secretary, and myself continue to make frequent visits to the center to closely monitor all operations.

Upadhyay emphasized that, in an effort to facilitate the smooth operation of the G20 Summit, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), District Magistrates (DM), and Heads of Departments (HODs) will be accompanied by Quick Response Teams (QRT) from various departments, including MCD, PWD, Department of Health, Directorate of Fire Services, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (GNCTD), Transport Department (GNCTD), IGL, and NDMC. They will convene at the NDMC Disaster Management Centre for the G20 Control Room, where they will promptly address department-specific complaints without delays.

He informed that it is important to note that these three dedicated contact numbers are exclusively for officers and employees on duty at the NDMC Disaster Management Centre for the G20 Control Room and are not intended for general public complaints. Upadhyay highlighted that the introduction of these contact numbers underscores NDMC’s commitment to providing timely assistance and support while facilitating effective collaboration with multiple agencies involved in the G20 Summit. These dedicated contact numbers have been established to address a wide range of needs and inquiries, including civic services, emergencies, and concerns arising during the G20 Summit.

Furthermore, Upadhyay commended the NDMC Disaster Management Centre for successfully receiving and resolving complaints related to issues such as water leakage, fallen trees, damaged hoardings, broken footpaths, and fallen leaves without any delay.

In addition to establishing dedicated contact numbers, NDMC had already deployed a dedicated Quick Response Team (QRT) consisting of 11 Heads of Departments (HoDs) and 12 Departmental Incharges. This team will operate round-the-clock in four shifts, ensuring the continuous availability of key personnel responsible for overseeing NDMC’s civic services during the G20 Summit.

Upadhyay stated, “Our goal is to ensure that our guests and visitors experience a seamless and safe environment during the G20 Summit. The provision of these contact numbers and the deployment of our Quick Response Team reflect our commitment to delivering efficient civic services and fostering productive collaboration with other agencies involved in the event.”
