Sonipat witnesses surge in flower sales amid Navratri festivities
Sonipat: Navratri is approaching; therefore, local flower markets in Sonipat, Haryana have been witnessing a significant surge as far as consumption and prices are concerned. Flowers consumption has gone up by 12 quintals due to high demand in the temples and homes as well. The prices of flowers like marigold and rose have increased by 35 to 50 percent.
Flower seller Deepak Kumar went on to say that the demand for flowers usually spikes during Navratri; after that, the wedding season will start, so the trend is likely to remain the same for the next two months. The demand for flowers, especially marigold and rose flowers, will remain high till the end of the year.

Currently, there are 47 flower sellers in the district, and the demand for marigold and rose flowers remains exceptionally high. People of all walks of life are demanding flowers either for their homes or temples. That is why the price of rose flowers has touched from Rs 100 per kg to Rs 150 during the ongoing festival season, while marigold flowers have increased from Rs 80-90 per kg to Rs 160-170.
With the combination of Navratri festivities and recently ended Haryana assembly polls, the flower market has experienced a jump in the price. Despite the high demand of marigold and rose, people are not asking for white Guldawari flowers, with only 50 to 60 kg sold across the district.
Ghazipur Mandi in Delhi supplies flowers to the NCR and neighboring cities of Haryana. It takes less time from reaching flowers from Delhi to nearby places. Therefore, Delhi’s flowers remain fresh. Customers prefer to purchase fresh flowers.
