ThinkPlants launches more than 40 new varieties in 2023-2024 New Catalog

Nursery Today Desk

New Delhi. ThinkPlants has announced to release a supplement 2023/24 New Varieties catalog with their 2022/23 book. A separate catalog highlighting 40+ new introductions this year has been launched by team ThinkPlants. In a recent Cultivate tradeshow in Columbus, the new book with many of these new varieties were displayed.

Joey Wiseman, Director at ThinkPlants says, “Since the ThinkPlants launch in 2018, we have continued to build our portfolio and gain new breeder and young plant producer participants, we are so proud to now be 16 members strong and still growing! It is exciting to walk through a mass merchant store, or an independent garden center and see beautiful ThinkPlants-promoted perennials at retail, and available to consumers. There are a whole chain of companies and people that make this happen, and ThinkPlants has worked hard to help connect all those dots.”

Have a look at some of the new introductions for 23-24:

Agastache ‘Pink Pearl’

This newly developed Agastache from Terra Nova Nurseries is particularly floriferous and has very large flowers. In terms of bloom power, it stands alone. From Danziger Guatemala, URCs of this new introduction are available.

According to Wiseman, this is the greatest Agastache to ever hit the market. This should be a part of any perennial program, given the significance of including new pollinator crops.

Echinacea Prairie Blaze

The first OP seed Echinacea available in novelty colors and optimized for mass production is the new launch from Syngenta Flowers. In terms of habit and bloom timing, this series matches well with the Prairie Splendor Compact and is available in various colours. The seed for Prairie Blaze is available from Syngenta Flowers.

“We had a great display of these new Echinacea in the ThinkPlants Cultivate booth,” adds Wiseman. “The Prairie Blaze Orange Sunset really stood out at the show.”

 Hydrangea macrophylla “My Beautiful Diva”

This Hydrangea macrophylla is the ideal bicolor variety; it comes in both pink and blue. This plant is suitable for 1-gallon pots or more, is compact, has sturdy stems, and produces long-lasting blooms. These are offered by Creekside Greenhouses in Canada as a pre-finished liner.

According to Wiseman, the new Hydrangea genetics coming from the Creekside program are very exciting. “These new genetics, alongside the amazing quality of the pre-finished liners Creekside produces, ensure success for the grower.”

Phygelius Colorburst Series

These lovely perennial herbaceous plants were brought by Monrovia Nursery to the ThinkPlants initiative and are incredibly rare on the market. Each of the four hues in this series has a compact habit and is extremely floriferous. These summer perennials require little care. Danziger Guatemala is offering URCs for these fresh introductions. And all programs are welcome to use these new Phygelius.

“I love Cape Fuchsia,” states Wiseman. “They are one of my favorite perennials and I am very excited to be able to get more of these plants out into the market.”

Salvia Pink Nebula

A companion to Danziger’s most recent introduction, Salvia Dark Matter, has just been made available. These two Salvia were chosen because they have huge flowers and go good together. This perennial that blooms its first year is quick to grow and reblooms all summer long. Available from Danziger Guatemala are URCs for the Salvia Pink Nebula.
