Tulip festival & national symposium begins in Palampur
Palampur: The two-day Tulip Festival and National Symposium on Ornamental Bulbous Flowers kicked off at the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur. The event, organized in collaboration with the Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture (ISOH), aims to promote ornamental bulbous flowers and explore new opportunities in floriculture.
Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT, was the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of floriculture in improving livelihoods and boosting the economy. He highlighted the CSIR Floriculture Mission, which focuses on promoting and enhancing flower cultivation, adding value to floral products, and creating awareness to strengthen the bio-economy. He expressed hope that the symposium would lead to new initiatives benefiting farmers and stakeholders.

Dr. Y.C. Gupta, Vice-President of ISOH, spoke about recent advancements and the vast scope of floriculture. Dr. S.S. Sindhu, Secretary of ISOH, provided an overview of the symposium and the role of ISOH in promoting ornamental horticulture.
During the event, fellowships and awards were presented to individuals for their exceptional contributions to floriculture. A Kisan Mela was also inaugurated, showcasing innovative agricultural practices and business opportunities in the floriculture sector.
The symposium saw participation from over 250 delegates, including representatives from 15 industries and 50 farmers from nearby states. Dr. Bhavya Bhargava, Scientist at CSIR-IHBT, concluded the event with a vote of thanks. The festival continues to inspire farmers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to explore the growing potential of floriculture.
