Tulip Garden in Srinagar displays 1.7 million blooms with 74 varieties

Srinagar: The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar is known across the world for its different varieties of tulips. Visitors from India and other parts of the world turn out in huge numbers every year in the spring season. It opens to the public in March and continues till April. The opening and closing dates vary due to the bloom time of tulips.

This year all records have been broken. Therefore, the garden hit the headlines by showcasing 1.7 million tulips this year. The unbelievable beauty attracted lakhs of flower and nature lovers worldwide. Being the largest tulip garden in Asia, situated at the foothills of the Zabarwan mountains, the wonderful view of Dal Lake further boosts its attractiveness.

The 30-hectare garden is designed beautifully with seven terraced levels. The garden introduced two new tulip varieties, brought from the Netherlands this year. Therefore, 74 kinds of tulips were displayed for tourists compared to 72 in the previous year. “Every year, we try to bring new tulips to make the garden more eye-catching,” said Assistant Floriculture Officer Asif Ahmad.

The beauty of this garden is not only from tulips; even other flowers have also taken center stage, such as daffodils, hyacinths, muscari, and blooming trees. It is just like a paradise on the earth for the flower enthusiasts. Since the opening of the garden on March 26, 2025, overall 671,926 visitors turned up in just 20 days. This is the highest-ever footfall in the history of the tulip garden in Kashmir. The charm of the garden has made it one of the most popular tourist destinations across the country.
