Union Minister unveils modern polyhouse at Jujumura to boost horticultural products
Sambalpur: Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled numerous agricultural and horticultural projects, aiming to strengthen the rural economy and provide support to farmers. He also inaugurated a modern polyhouse at Jujumura. This polyhouse was created with the collaboration of CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), Lucknow. The main focus is to boost the productivity of horticultural crops and floriculture, helping farmers to grow fruits and flowers in eco-friendly environments.
The Odisha government has been trying to promote climate-resilient agricultural products. With the support of NBRI’s experts, the horticultural yield must be increased due to nature-based solutions for soil and water management. Such efforts are expected to be a boon for the smallholder farmers to grow crops as per the climate change and earn a hefty amount of money. The minister unveiled a new market yard in Sanatanpal, which will help farmers to sell their products easily. They will get better prices.

With the improvement of market access for local farmers. Today, 30 metric tonnes of watermelon were sent to Ganjam, flagged off by the minister. So far, nearly 80 metric tonnes have been sold through the FPO.” Currently, FPO has been playing a key role in floriculture and vegetable farming. Mango farming is also on the cards.
These initiatives will definitely empower farmers to grow more and more horticultural crops because they can sell their products easily in the nearby market. Horticulture farming will get a big boost, which would improve the rural economy as well as farmers’ profits.
