Vibrant annual farm fest kicks off in Puducherry Botanical Garden

Puducherry: The Botanical Garden in Puducherry has come alive with the vibrant species of flowers and plants as the 35th edition of the annual farm festival got underway on Friday evening. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurated the event in the presence of a massive audience. The flourishing event is being organized by the Agriculture Department, showcasing ornamental flowers, vegetables, hybrid fruits, pot plants, and so on.

This year over 36,000 plants of 19 different species have been brought for the display of visitors, including balsam, marigold, petunia, and bougainvillea. Credit goes to the horticulture department for growing such a huge number of plants in its wing.

Numerous horticultural and agricultural institutions, like Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, and the Indian Institute of Horticulture Research, have established their stalls inside the premises to attract visitors. People will get a chance to see different kinds of seeds, plants, and fertilizers, where they can purchase them as well.

The three-day event is packed with several cultural and seminar events. During this period, experts will share their views on how to modernize agriculture farming and the application of tools. The audience will be entertained through the cultural performances.

The festival will remain open to the public from 9 am to 9 pm, providing a remarkable opportunity for nature lovers and tourists to spend some valuable time with their families in a natural environment along with learning about modern agriculture and horticulture.
