‘Youth Should Embrace Floriculture’: Muhammad Iqbal, Director of Agriculture

New Delhi: The operation of sowing seeds for winter annual flowers at Lalmandi Srinagar floriculture division started on 31st August. The event was started-off by Chowdhury Muhammad Iqbal, director of agriculture in Kashmir. In his speech, he highlighted the point that Kashmir has diverse agro-climatic conditions which is very favorable for floriculture development program.

According to him, a major initiative to advance floriculture in the area has been approved by the government as part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme. He urged the farmers to step up, take advantage of the department’s various initiatives, and boost their families’ overall agricultural revenue.

He emphasized on youth to embrace floriculture on a commercial scale and take advantage of departmental initiatives and projects.

The director gave the relevant personnel instructions to spread the word about the floriculture development program among farmers and to set up monthly training sessions for farmers to inform them of current floriculture industry trends.
