The Horticulture Industry Grows by 2% This Year

India’s horticulture output comprising of fruits, vegetables, spices, and flowers. Coconut and medicinal plants have shown a 2% increment at 341.63 million tonnes (mt) in 2021-22. In the previous year, it was 334.6 mt. The development has been huge in onion while mango, tomato, garlic and honey are a few different items that timed an expansion underway.
There is also an increase in India’s foodgrains output from 310.74 mt to 314.51 mt in 2021-22. This is because of a 236.07 mt increase in rice and wheat production, which have a total 75% share in total foodgrains output. The area under all horticulture crops has increased marginally to 27.74 million hectares from 27.48 million hectares.
