Farmers’ income boost through MIS
Shimla: The Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) has been trying its best to deliver fair prices to farmers for their horticulture crops. This initiative is taken to provide relief to farmers in case of a drop in market prices of their produce, protecting their livelihoods and keeping them in a position to remain in the horticulture sector. The government is aiming to stabilize prices and save farmers from financial disarray.
The Market Intervention Scheme is adamant about ensuring fair prices for farmers for their horticultural yields, such as fruits, vegetables, and spices, which are perishable and highly sensitive to market fluctuations. Under this scheme, farmers’ safety is being ensured so that they can’t be disheartened. The government is ready to come forward in any case.

Demand and supply often fluctuate, which creates an imbalance in the market. In this situation farmers suffer most. With the help of MIS, farmers get genuine value for their produce. This strategy brings confidence and stability in the minds of farmers, making them self-reliant as well.
Whenever market prices of fruits and vegetables drop, the government and its agency come forward strongly and purchase their crops at fair prices. This protects farmers’ livelihoods, motivating them to increase yield. Besides this, an awareness programme is being run to inspire farmers to register for MIS and get benefits from it. The registration process is simple so that more and more farmers can be included under this scheme.
