VC inspects Maharana Pratap Horticulture University in Chandsauli
Chandsauli: Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Karnal, Dr. Suresh Malhotra, scrutinized the Horticulture Research Center at Chandsauli on Wednesday. He inspected the arrangements at the center and stressed the need to focus on research and innovation in the cultivation of several fruits and spices, such as peach, pear, jujube, apple, mango, and litchi, along with vegetables such as coriander, radish, fenugreek, and spinach.
He further added that the center is keen to develop modern techniques and provide high-yielding seeds to farmers so that production could be increased. Farmers are likely to receive high-quality seeds along with better plant materials so that they can increase their income, he said.

Dr. Malhotra went on to say that in the beginning the newly established Horticulture College will start a graduation course, Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Horticulture. There are 30 seats in this segment. The number of seats may increase depending on the demand. The college is set to provide an opportunity to youths to pursue higher education in horticulture.
The Horticulture Research Center, built at a cost of Rs 13.27 crore, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an administrative building housing the regional director’s office, conference room, exhibition hall, staff rooms, 10 scientific chambers, general-purpose rooms, laboratories, lecture halls, smart classrooms, a dispensary, computer lab, cafeteria, recreation room, open-air theater, and a guest house.
Dr. Malhotra believed that after graduation from this college, students would become skillful horticulture experts, ready to help farmers to adopt innovative techniques to grow quality horticulture crops, which would help to increase their livelihoods.
