Barabanki: Preparations are on a war footing to set up a new Indo-Dutch Center of Excellence in Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh. This center has been established to improve the floriculture and vegetable farming in the district by using advanced techniques from the Netherlands. It is the first time such a kind of center has been set up in the state with an aim to boost crop productivity and inspire hi-tech farming.
Uttar Pradesh Horticulture Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh recently conducted a high-level meeting to discuss the project. He urged the officials to finish the work at the earliest on the Detailed Project Report (DPR). The center will run on seven hectares of land, and farmers from Barabanki and other surrounding districts will get a chance to learn modern farming techniques.

Dutch technology is ready to provide full support to the farmers so that they can grow more and more fruits, veggies, and flowers. Barabanki is known for the decent growth of tomatoes, colored bell peppers, cucumbers, and various flowers. With the help of Dutch, a modern nursery for vegetable saplings is likely to be developed. However, farmers first will have to receive training from the Netherlands’ experts on how to handle such advanced techniques effectively.
Dutch agriculture expert Jop van Balen shared some technical expertise during the meeting. The center is set to help local farmers to improve their crops productivity and quality, making farming a profitable business. Besides this, farmers’ income will also increase.
During the meeting, senior officials such as Dr. Rajiv Verma, Joint Director of the Horticulture Department, and others were present. This collaboration between the UP government and the Netherlands is a major step in the promotion of modern agriculture in the state.
