Amaravati: Heavy rains along with thunderstorms and hailstorms lashed several areas of Alluri Sitharama Raju district on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). The natural calamities have ruined standing horticultural crops. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Amaravati has warned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to occur at far-flung locations over north coastal and south coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the upcoming three days until April 30.
Horticulture farmers are on the receiving end; they don’t know what their future will be from here because it is difficult to save fruits and vegetables in the face of disastrous calamities. The difficulty has not been averted yet because weathermen have predicted that winds, along with rain and lightning, can occur again. Therefore, farmers have lost their hope. They are now depending on the state government’s help for their survival.
