Telangana Horticulture Dept conducts training programme
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Horticulture Department doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned in the promotion of the horticulture sector in the state. In this regard, the state government has taken a step and invites horticultural enthusiasts from Hyderabad to participate in the special training programme. Such a kind of event is being organized on a regular basis and is expected to prove fruitful in boosting the production of fruits and vegetables.
The Telangana government frequently conducts such training programme to make farmers aware of the new techniques, such as drip irrigation, establishment of polyhouses, and the exact use of pesticides. Several farmers have shifted from traditional farming to horticultural crops because it is more lucrative and fetches better incomes. Subsequently, a large number of people attend the event and listen to the experts’ talk with keen interest. This helps in the expansion of their horticulture knowledge.

Currently, rapid urbanization has been taking place in all the cities. Therefore, the area of cultivation became limited. The prices of vegetables are soaring amid a lack of cultivation in big areas. The Horticulture Department of the state has been organizing a promotional programme at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute, Red Hills, Hyderabad, on the second Saturday and fourth Sunday of every month under the ‘Mana illu Mana kuragayalu programme, as per the press release of the department.
The aim of the event is to promote and create awareness among urban people to grow pesticide-free vegetables at their respective homes. Participants can learn how to grow fruits and vegetables on roofs or other parts of their homes easily, which would be healthy for them as well. The registration fee is Rs 100.
